Our founders met at a 2023 climate finance conference in Geneva, sharing a frustration: the carbon market everyone was betting on to fund the energy transition was running on spreadsheets, PDFs and trust networks from a previous era.
A 2024 study found that over 90% of rainforest credits from the largest provider were "phantom credits." Verification took 18 months. Settlement was OTC. There was no Bloomberg, no Stripe, no source of truth.
We started CarbVault to build it — combining satellite-grade MRV, immutable registries, institutional trading and multi-framework reporting in one vault. Today we serve 150+ enterprises across 4 continents and are backed by Odra Venture and a syndicate of climate-fintech investors.
